Hi, my name is Shari and I live in northern San Diego County, CA ... specifically in a town called Fallbrook. For anyone that knows the area you'll appreciate that I feel fortunate to live here. It is a place of beautiful, moderate weather and has a rural flavor ... lots of trees, plants, hills ... and gives a feeling of being unspoiled. That helps a lot in attracting birds and animals of many types. It is perfect for backyard bird watching and bird feeding which I really enjoy. I'm very much an animal-person. I can't remember a time that I haven't felt devoted to them. And not having children has kept my interest primarily focused in that direction. I've owned many animals over the years but my pet birds have been with me the longest time ... due primarily to the fact they are so long-lived. My bird watching website has a page that explains a little about them. A passion many years ago were horses ... specifically Tennesee Walkers. I trained and showed them for about 10 years. Also had a Thoroughbred and Quarter-Horse and even a little donkey named Toby. They were so special and my feelings for them are still very deep. I'm also a dog and cat lover. I've had several kinds of both. My dogs have all passed on and I don't have enough extra time on my hands now to adopt another, sadly. I live with one cat ... a wonderful creature named Lucy. I also live with my stepdad who came to stay with me when my Mom died.
For years I had careers that took me away from home, i.e. real estate, office work, and other things that kept me in an office environment. But I've been enjoying a "retired" lifestyle for many years now and spend most of my time enjoying nature, working outside puttering around. Boy, that sounds like I'm a gal of leisure. But that's not the case. I have lots of projects and things to do that keep me very busy. In fact, sometimes I find it challenging to spend enough time at the computer to keep my website and weblog current.
